Job Announcement: Graphics & Marketing Specialist
GENERAL INFORMATION
The Norcal Procurement Technical Assistance Center (PTAC) is part of Humboldt State University’s Sponsored Programs Foundation and hosted by the Northern California Small Business Development Center (SBDC). Headquarters are currently located on campus in Arcata, CA. This nonprofit grant program serves the business community in twelve northern counties of California providing free one-on-one government contracting assistance and non-credit workshops, webinars, and events. Funding for this program comes from the federal Defense Logistics Agency (DLA), among other state and local sources. Humboldt State University has hosted the PTAC program since 2013. This position is a half-time (0.5 FTE), 12 month appointment. Includes vacation and sick time accrual; no health benefits. While continuation of this position is foreseen for years to come, all Norcal PTAC positions are contingent on continued federal funding. This is not a state or federal position.
DUTIES
Under the general supervision of the Program Director, this position is responsible for the oversight and coordination of tasks related to maintaining the PTAC brand, and developing, designing and producing print and online communications and updates.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS and RESPONSIBILITIES

Researching, coordinating, and designing PTAC collateral materials;

Coordinating and designing of various marketing materials for events and initiatives;

Creating and managing a marketing plan;

Social media and website content management support;

Drafting content (e.g. press releases) for mass media, newsletters, company websites;

Providing support to staff and program director on graphics and general marketing initiatives;

Negotiating and communicating with area printers to find the best prices and quality for specific projects;

Other duties as assigned.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Must be detail-orientated with excellent organizational and multi-tasking abilities;

Experience communicating with printers and media contacts;

Experience in website development and maintenance;

Knowledge and experience with social media;

Ability to write press releases using AP Style;

Knowledge of audio recording and editing (e.g. PSA);
-
Ability to work on several projects simultaneously and meet deadlines;

Previous experience working with small businesses, nonprofits, or government agencies.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Relevant AA or Bachelor Degree preferred from an accredited university or the equivalent of 4 years or more of sufficient and progressively responsible graphic design experience;

At least one year of experience with graphic design and marketing;

Excellent writing and verbal communication skills;

Experience using Adobe Creative Suite, event marketing, brand promotion;

Computer skills required including proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
