Finding Growth amidst the COVID-19 Pandemic

As the country continues through the COVID-19 crisis, now is a good time for businesses to take care of some administrative tasks and prepare themselves for continued opportunities in government contracting. These tasks include, market research, updating registrations, updating or creating capability statements, and taking additional training about government contracting.

Market Research

Now is a good time to conduct market research to determine which agencies purchase what you sell. You can do this by searching databases that contain procurement data. These databases include FPDS-NG.gov, USAspending.gov, Data.gov, and Beta.SAM (Contract Opportunities).

Watch our recent webinars on conducting Market Research: Market Research 1 and Market Research 2.

Update Registrations

System for Award Management (SAM) requires recertification each year, if you are within this time frame, take the time to go in and update your information and recertify representation and certifications. While you are at it, check your state registrations and make sure they are up-to-date as well, most states require annual recertification too.

Capability Statement

Is your Capability Statement up-to-date? Dust it off and make sure all the information is still correct. Add any new performance information, any new products or services or update pictures and refresh the look of the capability statement.  Your Procurement Specialist can help you with this process. Once you have updated the CS, send it to Small Business Specialists or Advocates in the Federal or State agencies you wish to target. You can find the small business specialist for the agencies by Googling the federal agency name and OSDBU (Office of Small Disadvantaged Business Utilization). Find a list of State of California advocates here.
