| NVT Quality Certification International is a corporation based out of Milpitas, CA. They identity and help to provide trainings and certifications services for firms and government agencies. Over the last 25 years, NVT QC has assisted in carrying out over 10,000 audits and training programs in various standards, blending deep domain expertise, understanding of business processes, highly experienced auditors, and tutors with global presence to help their clients. They heard about Norcal PTAC through the Association of Procurement Technical Assistance Centers and have been working with us since June of 2021. |
CHALLENGES
Procurement Specialists Christina Jones and later, Thomas Burns, met frequently with NVT’s Milipitas Director Vishnu Mathur to help him develop an understanding of the government marketplace. Particularly, he had many questions about navigating some tricky aspects of the Federal government’s SAM.gov registration, and how to find and bid on suitable government contracts.
ACTIONS
Mr. Burns assisted Mr. Mathur in registering and self-certifying as a Small Business in SAM.gov as well as getting certified as a Small Business in California’s Cal-eProcure system. They met at least twice per month to go over how to identify bid solicitations in NVT’s scope of work and how to submit successful bid responses. Mr. Burns made sure to teach them about Simplified Acquisition Threshold Awards issued by Federal agencies, and why these would be a great starting place for building their government contracting success. Once the client was proficient in finding set-aside opportunities in SAM.gov, they brought one to Mr. Burns’s attention and began applying for it with his help.
RESULTS
Equipped with their new SB certifications and knowledge of proposal writing techniques, NVT Quality Certification International won the first set-aside opportunity they bid on. Under this award they will be assisting with providing certification services for the Army Regional Maintenance Center in Norfolk Virginia for $13,070. The first contract is often the hardest to get, and this award will be helpful in boosting their past performance strength for future proposals. We at Norcal PTAC hope this is the first of many successes for NVT QC and look forward to continuing to work with them towards this goal!
