Josh Kress,

Josh Kress joined DGS and the Office of Small Business and Disabled Veteran Business Enterprise Services (OSDS) as a Business Outreach Liaison in May 2024.In this role, he educates business owners about the benefits and opportunities of pursuing a Small Business (SB) certification, Disabled Veteran Business Enterprise (DVBE) certification, and contract opportunities with the state of California.

Prior to that Josh owned a small business from 2018 to 2023 in the restaurant industry navigating the effects of Covid beginning half way through his second year in business. While owning the business he also was a National Sales and Marketing Director in the private sector.

Prior to that he had worked for the State of California for 10 years beginning as a Supervising Prison Cook with the Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation. For his last 8 years he was with Caltrans in various positions. Josh’s time with Caltrans had him managing an administrative office, managing resources for a statewide division, acting as an Assistant Resident Engineer being the field inspector and project manager for small construction projects in Monterey County, two years as an Outdoor Advertising Field Inspector, and finishing creating online Project Management courses while earning his Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification.

Josh believes in OSDS’ mission and the value of providing information and resources to small and disabled veteran owned businesses.
