Great Redwood Trail Community Workshop
The North Coast Railroad Authority became the Great Redwood Trail Agency (GRTA) in 2022 and is tasked with turning the 316-mile corridor into a public trail between San Francisco and Humboldt Bays and is currently preparing a Master Plan to guide trail development in Mendocino, Trinity, and Humboldt Counties.
This plan is informed by input from the public, adjoining landowners, local and tribal governments, and partner organizations, with a draft available for public review at the end of 2023. The Great Redwood Trail (GRT) in Sonoma and Marin Counties will be planned and constructed by Sonoma-Marin Area Rail Transit (SMART).
The construction and maintenance of this trail represents a big opportunity for local small businesses and sole proprietors to get involved in government contracting in their own backyard. The GRTA especially wants to hear from and do business with locals with construction, road grading, brush clearing, excavation, experience etc. Showing up to these meetings and offering your support for the project would be a great first step.
