This fantastic organization helps small businesses, academia, industry, and other innovators lower the barrier to gain access to the federal government contracting space.
DWX is a neutral facilitator and trusted partner for technology scouting, development, and implementation activities to support defense, security, intelligence, and government partners. As a neutral facilitator, DWX is not a part of the government selection team. DWX’s role is to empower your company with a culture of proactivity, creating the ability to field capabilities within a six-to-eighteen-month window while also exploring other government and commercial opportunities.
Through its 10 Innovation Hubs, DEFENSEWERX brings together the best minds and expertise of Government, Industry, Academia, National/Federal Labs, and the Non-Traditional ecosystem to collaborate and solve problems posed by our Federal Partners like the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL), United States Air Force – Air University, Naval Postgraduate School (NPS), United States Navy and Marine Corps (NavalX), the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA Labs), the Department of Energy (DOE), and others.
DWX innovation typically advances efforts around several key areas, including:
- Technology Transfer, Transition, and Commercialization
- STEM and Workforce Development
- Facilitation of Prototyping
- Purposeful Collisions Between Small Business, Academic, Industry, and Government
- Assessment and Collaboration Innovation Events and Efforts (including hackathons, feasibility studies, prize challenges, technology landscape analyses, tech talks, rapid prototyping

Brad Chedister,
Chief Technology & Innovation Officer

Brad Chedister is a Biomedical Engineer by training and holds a double Masters in Engineering Management and Technology Management. Chedister served as the R&D lead for USSOCOM programs including the Sensitive Site Exploitation (SSE) portfolio, Human Performance Program (HPP), classified programs portfolio, Biomedical Initiatives Steering Committee (BISC), Tactical Combat Casualty Care (TCCC) portfolio, Interagency Identity Dominance and Identity Superiority Programs, and Village Stability Operations Task Force for Credibility Assessment. Chedister is currently serving as the Chief Technology & Innovation Officer of DEFENSEWERX and the Principal Innovation Advisor of DEFENSEWERX Hubs in partnership with the Department of Defense, Federal Government, Intelligence Community, and other innovation communities supporting novel solutions for our Nation. He is also the Director of ICWERX, the innovation partnership established with CIA Labs and the Intelligence Community.
